Activities with Jackson

So this has been a very busy 2 weeks and I will blame my blogging deficiency partially on this.

We were kind of busy initially with Jackson, but that first week also had a lot of hurry up and wait going on. We definitely read him A LOT of books that first week. I'm quite partial to the Dr. Seuss books myself and I'm in search of the rest of them to finish out our collection. I've been interested to find out more about Dr. Seuss(such as in one article I read he reportedly pronounces his name Seuss which rhymes with choice, don't believe me? look on wikipedia).
We also were lucky enough to have a few visitors in that first week as above with Carrie, Sarah and Taylor. We were amazed to see and hold Taylor after getting used to Jackson. Seems hard to believe that he will be that big in a few months.
Rich and Suzy and Hudson(see link) also stopped by for a quick visit.

Thanks to all of you that were so kind to bring us food in that early period to ease the transition. It made the going much easier, and it tasted a lot better too.
Not to be outdone, our other children also found interesting ways to get our attention away from Jackson. Brewser found his way into the edge of the lake above. Laura thought he looked so funny that she just couldn't be upset with him. I agreed that he looked pretty funny, but I was a little upset with him. He and Fenway have taken to Jackson quite well and Brewser actually is quite protective of Jackson. He will come to his side whenever he cries and he will stay there until someone tends to Jackson. Thats a good big brother.

Laura also had a big birthday this week and we went to Opus 9 for dinner. Food was okay, service was poor to fair, but we are still glad we went. And no sooner did she have her birthday when Jackson's Grammie Obie and Great grammie Cushman arrived.
They have enjoyed Jackson and I feel quite sure that our son is not being neglected. Fenway and Brewser have also taken quite a liking to Great Grammie and they have requested to go for a summer camp to stay with Great Grammie in Maine this summer. She has happily agreed to this(if she denies this to any of our other relatives, don't believe her, she loved them as much as they loved her), but unfortunately the bulldogs are needed here and at the store.

Great grammie also got to hang out with Thomas Jefferson. She was happy to see him as it had been a lot of years since they got to hang out. He wasn't very talkative.
The dogs liked to help grammie and great grammie walk Jackson, and we had great weather for it.
And finally we went to Jamestown to see the Nina and the Pinta and the Santa Maria. Surprisingly they looked different than I had remembered from the history books.
Jackson enjoyed Jamestown immensely even in the high 90 degree heat. He asked to take a swim in the fountain but we let him know it was against the rules. About then he threw his first temper tantrum. Maybe we'll just let him swim next time.
Great grammie and Jackson hung out with Basil in the sun room a lot while our Maine visitors were here.
Well, sorry for the lag in posting. Smiles and slobber from the Obies.
