Flowers, playgrounds, and rivers

This field of wildflowers is right near my work and I have been dying to get Jackson out there for a picture. This was the best we could muster at this time. He did not want to look into the sun and was already a little fussy, but still posed fairly well. We think he likes flowers(and he proved it by reaching over, grabbing one and eating it), but I think this many all at once was a little overwhelming. We then headed over to the local playground and Jackson had a grand old time climbing and sliding and walking, but his favorite activity by far was picking up the bark he was supposed to be walking on and throwing it in the air or just plain looking at it.

We had a similar experience albeit a little cushier last week when we took Jackson to Jumping Joeys for a romp through an indoor playground. He was a little too small for most of it but still managed to enjoy some of it. The other kids tended to run around a bit too quickly and he got knocked down a few times, but it ended okay.
Last week I got to finally go riverboarding on the James River with our friend Jim. We had gone once before but this was a much more successful outing. The river was at 5.5 feet this time(prime) whereas last time 3.1 feet of water was all we had. The river barely moved last time and the water was stagnant with a foul filmy cover and lots of knee scraping and banging rocks. We actually had to give up halfway through last time and hike in socks at least a mile through the woods to get back to the road. This time the river was running and we came out unscathed. Riding a board headfirst through class 3-4 whitewater is better than any amusement ride. The outfits are a little ridiculous, but the fish don't seem to mind.

This is Hollywood Rapids, unfortunately the picture does not do it justice.

We cannot wait to get back out there again. It will be a few years before Jackson gets to do this however. Love you all.

Great photos of our boy. Thanks for letting the whole world see why we're so crazy about that little guy ! And sounds like our big guy had fun on the James River last week - you might be just a little crazy yourself !
